INFOCIMA No. 41 – MAY 2024

Smile of the Month

Rafael Bautista

When I was at home, I used to sneak out to nightclubs with my friends. I spent my time drinking alcohol, smoking, and stealing. My worried parents decided to bring me to CIMA so I could leave street life behind. At first, I didn’t like being here and wanted to go home, but I decided to stay until December (end of the school year) to finish my studies. Little by little, I realized that CIMA was helping me change, and improve every day. Sometimes, I think about my mother and how I never listened to her before. Now, I would like to go back home and do things right, and enjoy moments with my family. I thank Father Jean-Louis for talking to me and giving me advice: he taught me to behave well and to be a better person so when I return home, I can help my mother and make sure she has all she needs. Thanks to CIMA, I left behind the bad influences and bad things I learned on the streets.

Testimony of Ex-CIMA: Lincoln Josué

Dear Father Jean-Louis, I want to express my deepest gratitude for welcoming me into your home. I also thank God for allowing me to know CIMA and for sharing eleven months with all of you. At first, my thought process was very negative, but as the days, weeks, and months went by, I realized that being at CIMA was the best decision to change my life. After my first three months, when I returned home, my family noticed a change in me that filled me with joy, although I was not yet fully ready: I relapsed. When I returned to CIMA, I spoke about what had happened with my tutor. This relapse taught me that I needed to be stronger to face my drug issue. Over time, I learned many new things that I could never have imagined knowing, especially in the levelling and the farm workshops, or the technical initiation. The teachers were always kind, helping and advising us for our good. The tutors were always there, guiding us and helping us get back on our feet. I want to especially thank tutors Manuel Chunga, Alberto, Enrique, Luis, Augusto, Pedro, Jaime, Rafael, Pastor, Andrea, María Rosa, Dina, Janet, Fiestas, and tutor Gustavo, who is now in heaven, and taught me to always be joyful because music is life. Father, everything that I have learned, I owe it to you. I don’t know what I would have become without CIMA and without knowing God, our Lord, who loves us. Thank you for helping so many young people lost in the world of drugs, for breaking the chains that held me captive, and for giving me the opportunity to be free again on the path of the Lord. I love you very much, Father, for helping me become a new person. I will never disappoint you and wish CIMA to continue despite the economic problems, because with God nothing is impossible.

Testimony of Francis Peuch, volunteer from Canada

Before arriving at CIMA, I thought two months would be enough to experience our cooperation. I was wrong. One never stops enjoying the human experience offered by volunteer work in this unique place offers. My two months, to my great regret, passed in the blink of an eye. Here, I met children full of potential and smiles everywhere. I saw professionals working tirelessly for the well-being of everyone, teaching with respect and compassion. I saw CIMA as an oasis, a haven of peace, a better future, a second chance. I can only thank all the artisans who make CIMA what it is. I will keep an unforgettable memory of my short experience and I wholeheartedly wish that CIMA continues its progress, its evolution, and its beneficial work for so many children over the years. Thank you for everything, Francis Peuch

Mother’s Day Celebration at CIMA

Mother’s Day at CIMA is a very special and emotional occasion. On this day, we celebrate all the mothers of the CIMA family and the mothers of the children and adolescents. The celebration includes various activities prepared with much love and dedication. Early morning, the children and adolescents make personalized gifts for their mothers. This activity not only allows the children to express their love and gratitude but also to develop their artistic and manual skills. The day continues with an emotional afternoon of talents. The children of CIMA showcase their skills in various fields such as music, dance, theater, and other artistic expressions. They also present poems, songs, and small speeches in honor of their mothers. This celebration is an opportunity to reaffirm our commitment to the families, and the well-being of the children and young people who are in our home. To all mothers, we say: Thank you for everything you do!

Gratitude and Recognition to Werner Jung and Aktion Peru-Hilfe

Werner Jung, president of Aktion Peru-Hilfe, has dedicated more than 30 years of his life to providing support and hope to children and young people in Peru. His tireless work has not only had a positive impact on the life of the CIMA Home, but has also reached out to various institutions across the country. He has demonstrated unwavering commitment to the social cause, leaving an invaluable legacy of solidarity and service to others. On behalf of the CIMA Home and all the people who have benefited from his generosity, we express our deepest gratitude to Werner Jung for his dedication. His example inspires us to continue working for a better future for the children and young people of Peru. Aktion Peru-Hilfe is closing its doors, but Werner Jung’s legacy will remain alive in the hearts of all who had the opportunity to know and work with him. Thank you, friend Werner, for being a beacon of hope and an example of kindness!
