INFOCIMA Nº 44 – AUGUST 2024

The Smile of the Month:

Jorge Morante

Hello, my name is Jorge Morante and I am 17 years old. I came to CIMA because of drug addiction, bad behavior, theft, and family problems. At first, it was hard to face the challenges, but the time I’ve spent at CIMA allowed me to deeply reflect on my actions and their consequences. I have understood the negative impact my behavior had on my life, my family, and the people who supported me. At CIMA, I found an environment that helped me learn and grow because I gained new values, such as: discipline, self-love, and respect for others. I also learned to appreciate the small things in life. At CIMA, the workshops have been essential for my future, as they allowed me to develop various skills to become a better person. I have experienced spiritual growth, and feel more connected with God’s love. This new sense of spirituality and purpose has given me a renewed perspective on life and motivates me to move forward with a positive and grateful attitude.

Testimony of Ex CIMA Marco Antonio Rodríguez

I lived in Chiclayo as a child, and my father drank a lot and worked far away, only coming home once a week. When he arrived, he was drunk and without money, neglecting his family. My siblings and I went out to clean cars and sell candy to help. This meant we spent a lot of time on the streets, and as a result, we no longer studied. I was 8 years old when I saw my dad mistreat my mom, and hit us too. My siblings and I became rebellious. At 12, I decided to come to Lima on my own to escape those problems, and slept on the streets, joining other street-kids. To survive, I had to steal and lived a bad life, and this lasted for two or three years. At 14, I discovered CIMA thanks to Father Jean-Louis, who used to come to the streets and offer his support: he gave me the opportunity to change my life, and I spent five years at CIMA. Thanks to Father Jean-Louis’ help, I am now at peace, have a home and a job. I thank God, the staff, and the people who support CIMA, who allowed me to change my life and move forward. I live with my wife on a small piece of land that I bought, and we plan to build our house and have children. I use my experience to help others, giving back what CIMA has done for me.

Testimony of Aaron David Langford, volunteer

Dear friends of CIMA, I want to express my deepest gratitude for everything you did for me during the time spent at CIMA. From the first day, you welcomed me with open arms and made me feel at home. As you say at CIMA, it truly is a “sweet home”, full of people with hearts overflowing with hope and love. At CIMA, I learnt many valuable things about life, and the experiences of the youngsters. I hope to have contributed to bring them some positiveness, as much as they have enriched me. The story of CIMA and the stories of each of the young people I met will always accompany me, wherever I go. I carry with me an immense respect for this home and for each of the people who are part of it. CIMA is more than a home; it is a family, and I feel very fortunate to have been a part of it, even if only for a short while.

CIMA & Cueto La Rosa Football Academy, promoting sports and discipline among our youth

Since July, the Cueto-La Rosa football school has once again opened its doors and hearts to the children and teenagers of CIMA. Every Thursday at 3 PM, our boys and their tutors go by bus to the football school facilities. That is where they receive quality training and enjoy the sport under the supervision of dedicated professionals. In addition to learning technical football skills, the children are taught essential values such as: discipline, teamwork, respect, and perseverance. The kids are able to set their daily worries aside and focus on their personal growth. The experience at Cueto-La Rosa school is an inspiring example of how sports can be a powerful tool for the comprehensive development of minors. Thanks to this activity, the children discover their potential, set goals, and work hard to achieve them, while having fun and staying active. We are very grateful to Cueto-La Rosa football school for their dedication to the education of our youth. Thank you, Don Guillermo, family, and team, for being part of our mission and making a difference in the lives of our children.

News:

This month, our boys enjoyed two weeks of holidays full of recreational, playful, and sports activities. Among them, we highlight their participation in the Cueto-La Rosa football school.

We joyfully celebrated the birthday of Mr. Jorge Saavedra, our dear director. It was a day full of affection, where both the children and the staff expressed their gratitude for his dedication and commitment to our community.

As part of a national exercise, CIMA participated in the multi-disaster drill held throughout the country. Our boys, staff, and volunteers showed great responsibility by following the safety protocols, strengthening our preparedness for emergency situations.

We celebrated Children’s Day at CIMA with a day full of fun activities. The children enjoyed games, music, and received lots of love, emphasizing the importance of protecting and respecting their rights.

Our director and the talented boys of CIMA’s Wayra Marka musical group were invited by Oberle Peru to celebrate Children’s Day. With their music, they filled the event with joy, once again showing the talent and effort that defines our youth.
