Description

Description
The Carpentry Workshop at CIMA focuses not only on creating beautiful and useful wooden objects but also on providing children and adolescents with practical skills that will enable them to develop economically and become responsible citizens. Participants in this workshop engage in producing a variety of items such as chess boards, cheese boards, trays, lamps, and tables, as well as performing general maintenance on tools and household furniture.

Therapeutic Achievements
In the Carpentry Workshop, a tradition that is fading in the age of new materials is revived, while also fostering an appreciation for ecological living. Children and adolescents learn basic carpentry techniques, such as cutting, carving, sanding, joining, and sealing. These activities not only develop fine motor skills, attention, and concentration but also have a significant therapeutic effect. By performing tasks like cutting, painting, and sanding, participants strengthen their ability to pay attention to details, evaluate results, and put effort and dedication into their work.
This workshop also gives them the opportunity to do something for others with pride and improve the quality of life for everyone at home. The participants perform a self-critical analysis of their work, assess their attention and concentration while operating machines, and learn the importance of using personal protective equipment. These experiences help them develop a high tolerance for frustration, discipline, and effective work methodology.

Formative Achievements
Practical teaching in the workshop is provided by an experienced carpentry instructor. Children and adolescents aim to learn something new in each class and master the techniques taught. This activity requires concentration, effort, and dedication, as it involves standing and working in the workshop and around the home for maintenance. Repair and maintenance tasks are assigned to older and trustworthy adolescents, who learn not only the necessary techniques but also basic safety methodology, under the constant supervision of the instructor.

Productive Achievements
Master carpenters in the workshop dedicate their work to cutting, shaping, and manufacturing wooden pieces for various constructions, including housing. This workshop focuses on making doors, windows, and home furniture using common woods. The knowledge gained in this workshop provides participants with the necessary skills for future employment in the field of carpentry.
