INFOCIMA Nº 32 AUGUST 2023
The smile of the month:
Jheisson Ugaz
Hello, my name is Jheisson and I am 14 years old. I joined CIMA on July 11, 2022. I have received love and affection from everyone from the start. I like workshops and particularly painting on canvas because I can express my feelings. With the help of my tutors and all the staff, I can say that CIMA is the most beautiful thing I have ever known. I want to thank the donors of CIMA, who make it possible for me to live here. I also thank the volunteers who take the time to join us and participate in our transformation.
Testimony of Víctor Montalvo, Ex-CIMA.
I joined CIMA on January 3, 2008, and it has become my date of birth. I was 12 years old and stayed until I was 17. I am from the city of Ancash and came to CIMA because of economic problems. I needed to study but was rebellious. When I entered the center, the first day did not go well, because I kept on fighting: little by little, things improved because I learned to behave. At CIMA, I studied the entire primary school and reached the third year of secondary school, and finished high school on my own.
Collaborator Testimonial:
My name is Rosa Moscol and I am a fabric painting teacher. Ms. Michelle Cordiez initiated the workshop and trusted me to lead it when she left Peru 20 years ago. I have a mission to encourage children to discover and value their talent as an artist and help them regain their dignity. I am available to listen to you, welcoming and respecting your dreams. I am a mother, a grandmother, and the one who advises you with firm love, so that you can regain control over your life. I am the one who accompanies your sorrows and triumphs, so you can experience forgiveness to people who hurt you. I am strengthened by the gratitude of those who are at CIMA today, as well as all the former CIMA who, despite the years, remember me fondly. I am revitalized when working with children and young fellows. I thank Father Jean-Louis, director Jorge Saavedra and all my colleagues. Finally, I thank my husband who also learned to love CIMA’s children.
Workshops and various activities:
Technical initiation workshop:
Technical initiation workshop: boys learn the use of tools and workshop-specific techniques. Maintenance activities are also carried out, including: welding, painting, electrical connections, repair and installation of faucets and repair of simple objects. The teacher evaluates the performance of the participants and it allows to estimate the therapeutic effects achieved during the workshop. This also gives an opportunity to check the work carried out, if it is done with attention, precision, method and safety. Technical training teaches the correct handling of workshop equipment, which reduces energy costs and prevents injuries. Before leaving to return home, adolescents are trained to carry out basic repair and maintenance work, applying the knowledge acquired during trainings. Thus, they can work to assist in areas of maintenance, metalworking, electricity, plumbing, etc.

New children at CIMA:
Welcome home Jhonatan Linares and Jean Paul Álvarez.
News:
The children were invited to attend a circus performance. Thanks to the Mundo Libre home. We have received the visit of Kevin Grimes, an American friend of Tabo. They came along with four former CIMA members.
They stayed for a week and had activites with CIMA children and collaborators. This month we celebrate the day of the Peruvian child; Mr. Percy Salas and some of his friends honored the younger children with a small party. Friends of “Avanzada Católica” took the children from catechesis to join a performance at the Circus. Patricia Chavez visited CIMA with 8 young students from the “María Reina” school to spend the day as volunteers and work together with our boys.
